Numerical Study on the Plume Behavior of Multiple Stacks of Container Ships

This paper showed different plume behaviors of exhausts from number stacks the container ship, using CFD code PHOENICS version 6.0. The behavior was quantitatively analyzed by mass fraction pollutant in exhaust and heights. Three simplified typical configurations were constructed according to investigation ships. included a single main stack (BL1), one multiple auxiliary (BL2), two (BL3). All had same emission characteristics, all characteristics. results show that transmission diffusion characteristics are those stack. In BL2 BL3 simulations, maximum SO2 (C1max) emissions approximately 329% 269% higher than over stack, respectively, height is emissions. 41% 75% emissions, respectively. increase C1max, due weakened as distance increase. difference between great significance for air quality management pollution control port areas.
